Begoml is a small town, rather, a village in the south of the Vitebsk region of Belarus, 100 km from Minsk to the north.

History

The village under the name Bagoml was first mentioned in chronicles in 1582. It belonged to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, then the Commonwealth. 

After the second partition of the latter in 1793, Begoml, as part of the newly formed Minsk province, was annexed to the Russian Empire.

Based on archaeological research, it can be argued that the territory of modern Polotsk was settled already in 780.

The cities of Polotsk and Novopolotsk with the nearest towns and villages create the Polotsk agglomeration with a population of about 270,000 people.

The city of Vitebsk is located in the north-east of Belarus, the administrative center of the Vitebsk region and the Vitebsk region. Located in the eastern part of the region on the Western Dvina River. 

The fourth-largest city in the country (after Minsk, Gomel, and Mogilev).

The population is approximately 378,459 people (as of January 1, 2019). Occupied area - 134.6 km² (for 2017).
