Brest city, one of the oldest cities in the Republic of Belarus. 

Although the city of Brest is not the largest in Belarus, there are a lot of interesting places in it. And one of them is the Berestye Museum

This archaeological museum "Berestye" was opened on March 2, 1982 on the site of excavations that have been carried out since 1968, and is the only museum in Europe of a medieval East Slavic city. 

The museum is located on the territory of the Volyn fortification of the Brest Fortress, the place where the city was born. 

The central place of the exposition is occupied by an excavation of more than 1 thousand square meters, at a 4-meter depth of which you can see part of the craft quarter - walls of 28 wooden log buildings, one-story log cabins of coniferous trees, two street pavements, fences, remnants of adobe ovens (XI-XIII centuries).

On the stands, podiums, and showcases of 14 halls of the museum, archaeological finds of the XI-XIV centuries are displayed, telling about the economic and cultural life of the ancient city, the spread of crafts and the development of trade relations, the layout and development of the ancient city, crafts, the history of the study of Berestye.
